Krysten Ritter struggled to keep her Tim Burton “fandom at bay”.

The 33-year-old actress plays the character of DeAnn in upcoming biographical drama Big Eyes, opposite Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz. And her admiration for the film’s director almost got the better of her during production.

“I tried to keep my fandom at bay,” she told HuffPost Live of working with the famed filmmaker.

The Don’t Trust the B— in Apartment 23 star revealed she watched all Tim’s movies growing up. Because of this, being cast as one of his actors was quite the feat.

“It’s really exciting to be in a Tim Burton movie,” Krysten gushed. “I’m kind of overwhelmed by it all.”

The brunette beauty “gravitates” towards the types of films made by the director. He was responsible for the likes of Edward Scissorhands, Batman Returns, Dark Shadows and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, all of which have a uniquely dark and quirky feel.

“I think he likes a certain aesthetic,” Krysten suggested. “I also just gravitate towards his stories and movies, and I watched them as a little kid, because he was always making movies about an outcast or somebody that was different.”

Acting alongside Oscar nominee Amy was also a thrill for Krysten. She made a point of watching her play the role of Margaret Keane, perhaps to take notes for her own career.

“I was definitely observing [Amy],” she admitted. “I would even be observing how she carries herself, what she does between takes to stay in character.”

And she has healthy admiration for her other co-star Christoph, too. He stars as Walter Keane, who famously claimed his wife paintings as his own.

“Christoph is fantastic, he’s so good at playing maniacal, but likable somehow. He’s so charismatic,” according to Krysten.
