Lindsay Lohan is off probation for the first time in eight years.
The 28-year-old actress’ lawyer Shawn Holley appeared in court on Thursday, giving Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mark Young written proof that Lindsay had completed her court-ordered community service.
"It does appear Ms. Lohan fully complied with her community service obligation," the judge said. "Probation is terminated as of today.”
Lindsay had been on probation following a 2012 reckless driving conviction in California. She was previously on probation after being convicted of driving under the influence and drug possession back in 2007 – charges which led to her spending 84 minutes in jail.
Following her 2012 conviction, Lindsay was ordered to complete 240 hours of community service as part of the original plea deal and in February an additional 125 community service hours were added to her sentence.
However, following a probation progress hearing on May 7 that revealed Lindsay was far from fulfilling her scheduled hours, the actress decided to work tirelessly to avoid a return to jail.
To complete her 125 extra hours, Lindsay worked eight hours a day for over two weeks.
Following the news that she had finished her service, Lindsay wrote on Instagram on Wednesday night: “Hard work pays off. Thank you to all those that allowed me to volunteer while in nyc. God bless you all. Amen.”
Lindsay was not present at court on Thursday, but Judge Young praised her lawyer for keeping the actress on task when it came to completing the hours of community service.
As she left court, Holley told waiting press that Lindsay would “absolutely” be returning to acting now that her legal troubles are in the past.
“She's been on probation almost her entire adult life,” she said. “She is an extremely talented and beautiful individual and hopefully she will put all of her efforts into a thriving career. I know she will."
