Liam Hemsworth has supposedly spent close to $7 million on a house in Malibu, California.

The Hunger Games actor once shared a home in Los Angeles with his former fiancée Miley Cyrus, but he moved out soon after they split in September of last year.

And now Variety is reporting he has splashed out $6.8 million on a 7.5 acre property in the beach town of Malibu, located just north of Santa Monica.

According to the outlet, upon entering the residence one is greeted with a long drive that crosses a creek. The outdoor area also has a swimming pool, a concrete barn, a professional recording studio and a “detached writing studio”.

The 1,980 sq ft house on the property is 1950s ranch-style with a “modern-organic” interior. Apparently the floors are made of reclaimed wood, there is polished concrete throughout and most of the walls are compiled of multi-paned windows.

Liam spent three years in a relationship with Miley prior to their split in 2013.

Before becoming a Hollywood celebrity, at 17 years old he landed a role in Australian soap opera Neighbours, which also launched the careers of Guy Pearce, Kylie Minogue and Margot Robbie.

But Liam previously revealed to British magazine Now his teenage fame was short lived and he ended up doing construction work before landing his big break.

It was his older brother Chris who made it in Tinseltown first, which Liam confessed left him feeling deflated until he landed a role in 2010's The Last Song.

"I was sitting in my manager's house with Chris. He'd booked Thor and we were so happy for him. But at the same time I realised I'd probably have to go back home. I was devastated and I felt like an idiot for leaving Australia," Liam reminisced.
