Lily Collins: My job is weird

Lily Collins sometimes finds her job "strange", especially when she has to go "somewhere dark very fast".

The 25-year-old actress landed her first big screen role in 2009's The Blind Side and has gone on to make a firm place for herself in the movie industry. There are times when she finds her career choice odd, and is pleased she finished education before pursuing her acting dream.

She was born in England, to singer Phil Collins and his second wife Jill Tavelman but moved to Los Angeles aged five with her mom when her parents divorced.

"I just finished shooting the Untitled Warren Beatty Project and I had to get angry a lot in it," Lily explained to British newspaper Metro. "That's when I realise how strange a job I have. I have to go somewhere dark very fast.

"There are multiple shows I tested for when I was younger that I thought it was the end of the world when I didn't get them. But I think, my God, I wouldn't have finished high school. I wouldn't be sitting here right now."

Lily can next be seen in Irish rom-com Love, Rosie - based on the 2004 novel Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern. In it the star plays the title character, who throughout the film tries to figure out her relationship with childhood friend Alex (Sam Claflin). Also appearing in the film are Jaime Winstone and Suki Waterhouse, and the cast enjoyed bonding when the cameras had finished rolling.

"We would go out to pubs and dancing then go to set the next day and laugh about what we'd just done," Lily smiled. "Dublin is such an electric city, you can go from place to place and meet new people and have such an amazing time. Suki and Jaime are individual and funky and their outfits are so crazy. And Sam is so goofy and lovely."
