Lindsay Lohan claims that she has learned from her mistakes.

The 26-year-old actress has been in legal trouble for years.

Since this summer alone, Lindsay was a suspect in a jewellery theft case, accused of a hit-and-run and she now faces probable jail time for lying to the police regarding a car accident in which she totalled her rented Porsche.

This will not be Lindsay’s first time in jail, as she was locked up six times previously for charges like driving under the influence and theft.

Lindsay uses these negative experiences to enhance her craft.

"[I regret] nothing, because then I wouldn't have been able to cry in scenes at the drop of a hat," she told Us Weekly magazine.

"I have it tattooed: LIVE WITHOUT REGRETS. I'm not saying I wanted to go to a jail cell, but I've drawn from all of it."

Lindsay is concerned about her legacy.

She doesn’t want to be remembered as a criminal.

“I want to be known as an actress, not a troubled starlet," she said.

"People can think what they want, and the only thing I can do is prove them wrong."
