Actress Liv Tyler’s mother had a "crystal ball" moment when she predicted her career.

The 38-year-old beauty has showbiz running through her blood, with Aerosmith rocker Steven Tyler for a dad and model-and-singer Bebe Buell her mum.

It isn't a surprise that Liv has gone on to become a star in her own right, with movies such as The Lord of the Rings franchise and The Incredible Hulk under her belt. But it was Bebe who saw her potential before she did.

"I remember taking a call from an interviewer when I was really young and they asked me, 'What do you want to be when you grow up?' and I said, 'Excuse me, can you hold on?'" Liv recalled to Britain's Vogue magazine. "I put the phone on my lap and asked my mom. She said, 'Baby, you're going to be an actress.' And so that's what I said. It was such a weird moment, and not like in a stage-mum way, it was like she could see my future with a crystal ball."

Liv is one of many Hollywood A-listers who have moved into TV over the last few years. She stars in The Leftovers alongside Justin Theroux, which is about the people left behind after two per cent of the world's population suddenly disappears. It's been a big success since the first series hit small screens last year, and Liv's eyes have been opened by the effort put into TV programmes these days.

"TV never used to be such a big deal in the US, but now the quality of scripts, the directors... Every big director that you love is either developing, producing or directing TV," she added. "The quality of characters, especially for women, is amazing."
