(Cover) - EN Movies - George Lucas was in talks with Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill to reprise their roles for a new installment in his Star Wars saga before LucasFilm was bought by Disney.
The celebrated filmmaker and creator of the iconic film franchise has opened up about plans for Star Wars: Episode VII.
After much anticipation about who would be on board, George admits he was hoping the trio would return to their respective roles as Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker.
The director told Bloomberg Businessweek the actors “already signed” on to the project before Disney bought out LucasFilm back in December.
"We had already signed Mark, Carrie and Harrison - or we were pretty much in the final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, 'Look, this is what's going on,'" he explained.
"Maybe I'm not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them," he continued.
George would not confirm whether or not those negotiations were completed.
Harrison, Carrie and Mark became household names after starring in 1977’s Star Wars, 1980 film The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi in 1983.
Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled for release in 2015 with J.J. Abrams at the helm.
Disney has declined to comment on the report.
