Ludacris will be channeling the hosting talent of Neil Patrick Harris at the Teen Choice Awards.

Neil presented the Primetime Emmy Awards twice, the Tony Awards four times and he is also the first openly homosexual man to have hosted the Academy Awards.

Ludacris, Josh Peck and Gina Rodriguez are co-hosts at the Teen Choice Awards this year, and the rapper is using Neil as his main source of inspiration for the presenting gig.

“I think that he’s fresh on my mind in terms of somebody who is great with the timing of everything and very comfortable in his own skin,” Ludacris told USA Today of why Neil is so impressive. “So, I would love to take after those shoes.”

Neil won a Tony Award for his leading role in Broadway musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch.

And even though Ludacris wants to take on some of his peer’s stage presence for the Teen Choice Awards, it’s unlikely you’ll find the hip hop star singing and dancing in little skits during the ceremony.

“I don’t think I’ll be doing any performances… I’m not quite there yet, but… I continue to progress so we’ll see about that one day,” Ludacris said.

The 37-year-old star’s film Furious Seven was nominated in the Choice Movie: Chemistry category at the Teen Choice Awards. The picture is facing stiff competition, as contenders also include Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow for Pitch Perfect 2 and Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels for Dumb and Dumber To, among others.

But Ludacris is confident Furious Seven might snatch up the trophy, especially since the feature was the first movie in history to have earned $1 billion at the international box office so quickly, taking only 17 days to reach the benchmark.

“It feels great to be nominated, and I think this film will just continue, you know,” Ludacris said. “The franchise continues to get bigger and better every time. And I think it’s past due, man. So, I’m hoping we win that award.”

The 2015 Teen Choice Awards take place in Los Angeles at the Galen Center on August 16.
