Lupita Nyong’o has remembered a successful 2014 with a touching poem.

The actress shot from obscurity to worldwide fame after earning an Oscar nomination and subsequently taking home the gong for her role in Twelve Years a Slave.

And as she looks forward to the coming year, Lupita reflected on what has been an amazing 12 months with a verse posted on her Instagram page.

“This year was one of a kind, And a kind one to me,” she began. “There was lots to be done, And a whole lot to see. I had family and friends, And colleagues galore, Now I have fans, Plus a million and four!”

Lupita added that she is constantly touched and amazed by the messages sent to her by fans on social networking sites.

And she promised that while she might not have the time to respond to each and every post, she does appreciate the effort her supporters take to write to her.

“You tweet and you post, And you instagram too,” she continued. “You chat, comment, draw, You just do what you do. And though I don’t answer ‘Cause time is a-tickin’, Know that you matter By the posts that I’m pickin’. I keep posting ‘Cause I know that you care, And I care to post, When I know that you’re there.”

Lupita continued the poem by wishing her fans a happy holiday season.

“I wish for you peace, Love, joy, laughter beams, And in the new year, May you live out your dreams!” she wrote.

She concluded the verse: “Love, Lupita N.”

Lupita has an even more exciting 2015 coming up, with a role in the highly-anticipated latest instalment of the Star Wars franchise.
