Maggie Gyllenhaal's 'sense of solidity'

Maggie Gyllenhaal admits she’s frequently searching for a “sense of solidity”.

The Academy Award-nominated actress is mother to daughters Ramona, seven, and Gloria, two, who she shares with husband Peter Sarsgaard.

And Maggie confesses every time she comes across a script for a feature film, her entire family goes into flux.

"We're constantly having conversations. There are a lot of things I can't do right now. I'll be able to do them later. It's valuable to have a sense of solidity,” she told USA Today of discussing career moves with her spouse.

Ultimately fellow actor Peter is extremely supportive of Maggie’s professional pursuits.

He even convinced the actress to take on her most recent role in BBC miniseries, The Honourable Woman. The project required her family to uproot themselves from New York City as the TV special was shot in London.

"I really tried not to do it. And then my husband and everyone who works with me started saying I had to do it, and we'd find a way to make it work," Maggie recalled.

But the star claims absolutely nothing she is up to in life would be achievable without hired help, as her nanny provides her children with the care she needs while away on set.

“I can't do any of this without my nanny. She makes it possible for me to be an actress,” Maggie said.

The actress portrays Nessa Stein in The Honourable Woman, a spy thriller set against the backdrop of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that was first aired July 3.
