Leslie Mann has landed a major part in the forthcoming Vacation series reboot.

The 42-year-old actress has appeared in many comedies over the years, including The Other Woman, This Is 40, Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

And Variety reports she’ll be using her comedic strengths in forthcoming film Vacation, which is based on Chevy Chase’s eponymous 1980s franchise films.

The new Vacation, which is now in pre-production, is a National Lampoon’s series comedy that has been in development for years now. The movie has experienced endless delays as personnel shifts and countless screenplay drafts continued to stall the project.

Vacation’s plot centres on an adult Rusty Griswold, portrayed by The Hangover actor Ed Helms, who takes his own family on wild holidays around the world. Christina Applegate takes on the role of Rusty’s headstrong wife Debbie, who may be falling out of love with her spouse.

Leslie will be portraying Audrey Griswold, Rusty’s sister, who was played by Dana Barron in the original 1983 film.

Chevy and Beverly D’Angelo, who played Rusty’s parents in the original movie, are on board to make an appearance in the sequel.

John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein will be making their directorial debut with Vacation. The screenwriters are adapting the picture from the screenplay they wrote.

Chris Bender and David Dobkin are producing with Jeff Kleeman serving as executive producer.

Vacation begins shooting in Louisiana next week.
