Margot Robbie used to eat her dinner in the pool.

The 24-year-old actress grew up in Australia, where she enjoyed a very outdoorsy lifestyle. And thanks to that, her love of swimming developed.

“It’s not about being rich, but everyone back home has a pool. And I was a total water baby,” she smiled to W magazine.

“My mom couldn’t get me out - she’d put my dinner plate at the end of the pool, and I’d eat my meals in the water.”

Now she’s switched Down Under for Hollywood, appearing alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in last year’s smash hit The Wolf of Wall Street. The actress is happy to adapt for a role and she remembers coming to audition dressed in a pair of jeans and boots, which she thought would be perfect for her character, Naomi.

“The casting director took one look at me and said, ‘Go down the street and buy the tightest dress and highest heels you can find,’” Margot remembered. “‘That is Naomi.’ I came back dressed like that and read for Marty [Martin Scorsese, director] and Leo. Those heels were killing me, which is what I remembered most.”

For her W magazine article, the star was shot underwater by artist Bill Viola. The haunting image shows her in a beautiful sheer dress with silver embellishment and her long fair her fans out behind her.

“I am so excited,” she enthused before the shoot. “I’ve been holding my breath to see how long I can go without turning blue.

“I’ve been practising in my bathtub.”
