Maya Rudolph gave birth to daughter Minnie a year ago.

The Bridesmaids comedienne kept the birth under wraps, with details only coming to light when she filed a birth certificate 12 months later.

According to TMZ.com, Maya and partner Paul Thomas Anderson welcomed daughter Minnie Ida Anderson on August 1 2013. The website also revealed the reason the birth wasn’t recorded before was because Maya welcomed the tot at home.

By Californian law, a parent has to file a birth certificate before the child reaches a year old.

So by filing on Tuesday, Maya was just within the deadline.

The certificate also revealed that Maya and Paul had made the touching decision to name their little girl after the actress’ mother Minnie Riperton.

Minnie is also the middle name of Maya and Paul’s eight-year-old daughter Pearl.

The pair are also parents to four-year-old Lucille and Jack, three.

It was known the star had given birth last summer, but this is the first time details have been confirmed.

Maya previously revealed that she often struggles with some elements of motherhood – particularly when it comes to the amount of sleep she gets.

“Can you believe it' It’s not just about me! That should be a T-shirt I make for all parents, ‘It’s not just about me anymore.’

But it would have to be a totally beat-up shirt,” Maya told People magazine. “I have this sick fantasy of sleeping in every weekend, but it never happens. And I can’t get my daughter to get up for school, but when it’s the weekend, she’s up early. She can’t wait. Really' It’s Sunday!”

However, the actress can’t imagine why people wouldn’t enjoy being around tots.

“I honestly don’t like people that hate kids. I think they’re mean, horrible humans,” Maya declared.
