Rachel McAdams will miss playing her True Detective character.

The 36-year-old actress can soon be seen starring as detective Ani Bezzerides alongside Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn in the second series of the HBO crime drama.

And Rachel said in a new interview that filming the season caused her to form a strong bond to her on-screen alter ego.

“It was pretty great,” she said of working on the programme. “I had a great time shooting it. She was a really fun character to play. It was hard to say goodbye — it was the longest I spent with a character, about six months, since I did theater. I’ll miss playing her.”

The first season of True Detective starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson in the lead roles.

Rachel promises that the next series will give fans just what they’re looking for.

“There is a lot of plot development, and different webs to follow,” she said. “I hope people like it, I loved doing it.”

Rachel was speaking to US TV show Extra at the premiere of her new movie Aloha, which sees her in a love triangle with Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone.

And the Mean Girls star also opened up about her sister Kayleen’s wedding, which took place in Toronto, Canada, last weekend.

Rachel was photographed when she was overcome with emotion at the ceremony.

“It was amazing, it was honestly the best wedding I’ve ever been to and I suppose I’m biased, but we just danced all night, and everything went off without a hitch,” Rachel said of the nuptials. “I mean, that just never happens. It was really, really beautiful and I couldn’t have asked for more for her.”
