Melissa Rivers is reportedly holding a Thanksgiving dinner in memory of her late mother Joan.
The comedian passed away aged 81 in September, following complications after a throat surgery.
Today is the annual Thanksgiving holiday in the US and Melissa has decided to pay tribute to Joan in the best way she knows how.
"Melissa is hosting the dinner in honour of Joan, and to continue a tradition she did every year. Joan would welcome her friends, relatives and anyone who might not have family members in New York to a Thanksgiving dinner at her home," an insider told New York Post.
The meal will be held at the Upper East Side apartment that Joan so loved. A huge group would gather there to mark the occasion every year, with Melissa hoping it will be anything but sober today.
"Her table seats 50 people, and each year everyone had to stand up and tell the table what they were thankful for. This year, it will be sad without Joan, but Melissa wants the occasion to be a happy one, to remember her mother and everything she did for other people," the source explained.
The condo is worth $35million and lays over 5,000 square feet. It boasts gold pillars and huge chandeliers, plus cards showcasing the jokes which made Joan's name are scattered throughout. The ceilings are 30ft. high and there are marble statues standing in different rooms, as well as gold patterns etched on the walls.
The late star made no secret of how much she loved the property, once joking it was the kind of place where Marie Antoinette would have lived if she could have afforded it.
In 2009 Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi offered Joan $200,000 a week to rent the property, which she tried to sell several times.
"I thought it was great. I said I would give half the rent to Lockerbie [and the other half] to have an exterminator come and clean the apartment when he was done," she said.
