Michiel Huisman was "very impressed" with Blake Lively's performance in The Age of Adaline.

The film is a romantic drama about a woman who is rendered ageless following an accident.

Dutch actor Michiel stars in the movie as Ellis Jones, the man who makes Blake's Adaline Bowman debate whether he's worth losing her immortality for.

It's a unique love story Michiel initially felt nervous about taking on, but his anxiety was eased once he realised how perfect the blonde actress was in the role.

"I think it's very important that you believe that these two people are meant for each other, and that you buy into the chemistry, and that's something that's either there or it's not really there. I felt like right from the start we had a lot of fun, and I was very impressed by how she approached her role, which I think was very challenging," he gushed to popsugar.com. "As we were shooting it, I thought, 'Wow, she's really found a way to kind of dial in that 100-year-old woman, that old soul.' When you're working with someone and you're looking at them and you're thinking, 'Wow, you're doing a great job,' that makes you want to step it up, too. It's very inspiring."

The film co-stars Harrison Ford, Kathy Baker and Ellen Burstyn.

There were countless memorable scenes for Michiel during filming, although one stands out more than others, due to how it made him feel.

"If I have to pick one, then I'm going to pick the moment that has also been used in the trailer quite a lot - when she's finally at my house and we're about to kiss and then she holds back and she says, 'Tell me something to hold on to forever and never let go,'" he smiled.

It was in this moment that the star remembered why he loves acting so much. While in real life he would be stuck on how to answer, his character gives a simple response.

"He says, 'Let go.' That's it," Michiel sighed.
