Country singer Miranda Lambert has opened up about her divorce from Blake Shelton for the first time, describing marriage as "a tough business".

The 32-year-old and fellow country singer Blake announced their plans to end their marriage in July (15) after a four-year union. Blake has reportedly moved on to a new relationship with fellow recent divorcee Gwen Stefani, but Miranda only has kind words to say about her former spouse.

"Marriage is a tough business, and we gave it our best college try," she told Cosmopolitan magazine. "I had a great relationship with an amazing man so I know what good is. I have a great launching pad for the future. I will never take that for granted."

Miranda added to the outlet that she is in no rush to get into another relationship or remarry any time soon and admits that she still has days where she feels really down about her divorce.

"Some of that might mean nights on my porch crying, drinking whiskey, and going, 'Man, this sucks right now,'" she said.
Like any good musician, Miranda is seeking comfort in her songwriting, and is channelling her emotions into new music.
"I feel the sexiest when I'm in my element, which is playing music," she continued. "It doesn't really matter what I'm wearing necessarily or where I'm at, just on stage with my band playing music is sort of where I feel like I belong and that makes me feel sexy."

Blake, 39, has also opened up about the split, telling The Bobby Bones Show in September (15) that their divorce happened so quickly that there was no time for things to turn nasty between them.

"Our whole thing was, we are going to be cool about this. It is what it is," he said. "We're buddies. In Oklahoma, it happens so fast, like, Miranda and I didn't have any kids, and we had a prenuptial agreement, or whatever we had. So, it was like once we filed for divorce...it was like a nine- or 10-day waiting period until it's over.

"Even if we knew of rumblings and rumors started coming out, they would just be that. By the time anybody knew anything, it was over. It was done."
