Mischa Barton is supposedly taking off-the-wall jobs in order to “make a quick buck”.

The 28-year-old actress became a household name after appearing in US TV series The O.C. between the years of 2003 to 2006, but it’s claimed she is crippled by debt at the moment.

Apparently the financial crisis has become so bad Mischa decided to star in marketing campaigns for products like Vapestick E-cig and diet pill Proactol XS.

“Mischa doesn’t know where her career is going, so she’s been taking these quirky gigs to make a quick buck,” an insider told America’s OK! magazine.

The star’s loved ones are purportedly concerned over her recent professional decisions.

However, it’s reported Mischa isn’t open to hearing what they have to say about the matter.

“Her friends and family are worried about her decisions, but she keeps pushing them away,” the insider said.

According to the publication, Mischa is facing foreclosure on her home because she owes $100,000 in mortgage payments.

TMZ reported last month she has been sued by producers of movie Promoted for failing to complete her part in the film. Should Mischa lose this case she might have to fork up an estimated $360,000.

The star has had a turbulent life in recent years. In 2007 she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of marijuana and driving without a valid licence. Two years later in 2009, Mischa was sectioned in a mental institution under a 5150, a California welfare code of law that allows mental health physicians to place people on an involuntary hold once they are deemed a danger to themselves and others.

The blonde actress recently revealed she felt "depressed and overworked" during the time of her downfall.

"It’s tough. It’s really tough when you are young in this business," she told UK newspaper The Metro.
