Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer's main aim is to still be acting when she dies.

The 33-year-old star appears as Margaery Tyrell in the fantasy show, a character she enjoys playing because she has many different sides. This plays into Natalie's career aim - she wants to portray as many different people as she can, which is why she's delighted to have scored roles in movies such as The Hunger Games franchise and upcoming horror The Forest.

"That box people put me in is going to dampen down over the next few years," she told Britain's The Guardian newspaper. "I’m aiming to die doing this job."

Thanks to her role as Margaery and appearance in TV show The Tudors, many see Natalie as a period drama actress. This is what she finds frustrating, with the star pointing out she's done the same amount of costume dramas as Keira Knightley and Kate Winslet and yet no one accuses them of being typecast.

Another of her irritations is the amount of questions she fields about sexuality. Game of Thrones is renowned for its sex scenes and Natalie hasn't shied away from stripping off on camera, but each time she shoots a love scene there is a reason for it.

“I don’t know what the answer is,” she said. “Female empowerment shouldn’t be exclusively about sexuality. And you meet a lot – and I’m going to be careful what I say here – you meet a fair fraction of male writers and directors who want to wave the equality flag and believe that they’re making you a kick-ass female assassin, and they’re empowering you. Whereas true empowerment would be… not a stylised, hyper sexualisation.”

That said, the star manages to see the fun side of her job too - not least because her friends won't let her live down many of her performances.

"It’s always been a joke to a lot of my friends that I play these cool femme fatales who look like they could take over the world with their little finger," she explained. "I’m not really that, it’s fair to say! When it comes down to it, I’m quite a loquacious, quirky, clumsy human being.”
