Nicholas Hoult knows how to fly under the radar.

The British actor first burst on to the scene in 2002's About a Boy, as awkward school pupil Marcus. Fast forward five years and he reappeared as handsome teen Tony in gritty UK TV show Skins. Since then the 25-year-old hasn't stopped working and, despite his fame, has managed to avoid the constant glare of the paps' cameras.

"It’s a choice. You learn where not to go," he told British Vogue of shunning the A-list life. "I can fall out of my local pub and no one cares."

His off screen drinking antics may not cause much of a stir, but his love life does take up column inches.

He dated his X-Men co-star Jennifer Lawrence on and off since 2010, splitting with the star last summer. He has since been linked to Kristen Stewart and most recently Dianna Agron.

With four new projects in the pipeline, including the next X-Men instalment Apocalypse, it doesn't leave much time for love. When he does get some time off he likes to spend it with his home friends, who never let him get above his station.

"On set you tell a joke and everyone automatically laughs. Back home, your friends let you fall flat on your face," he smiled.

Over his career Nicholas has portrayed numerous characters, and always impresses those he works with.

Colin Firth, who starred alongside him in A Single Man, heaps enormous praise on the actor.

"Whenever I think of A Single Man, I close my eyes and it's his face that I see looking back at me... an angel trying to save a damaged soul," Colin said.
