Nicole Kidman has praised Keith Urban for "literally carrying her through" a difficult time.
The 47-year-old actress' father Antony died in September following a fall while in Singapore. She has struggled to deal with her grief as his death was so sudden and couldn't have got through it if it wasn't for her husband-of-eight-years Keith.
“I have to say. I love saying this because he should be just adored. He has been so good to me for nine years, but for the last sort of month, which has been a really tough time for me... When you have your partner who just literally carries you through a tough time. And he’s been amazing to me. I recently lost my father and to have my husband just step up that way it makes me cry. He’s amazing," she told US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.
"Literally at times, to be carried by your partner, physically at times because I was so devastated, it's like I'll do anything for that man."
Much has been made of how strong Nicole and Keith's relationship is, especially after he admitted writing her love letters. The Australian actress explained that isn't a daily occurrence, but when they are apart for work they do send each other missives.
While her country musician spouse has been a huge source of support over the last couple of months, Nicole has also been touched by the actions of others. Before her father died she didn't think much about how grief affects people, but she has now realised how important it is to be there for each other.
"I've realised we don't talk about it [death] enough in terms of our society. Because at some point in our lives we're gonna go through [it], everybody loses their parents. It's awful. I'm sorry to bring everybody down but at the same time I'm trying to navigate through something right now and I'm amazed when people reach out because it's an awkward thing at times," she said.
"There's something about when you realise someone else has gone through a similar thing, it really connects you."
