Nicole Richie gets kicks from fashion fans

Nicole Richie loves when other mothers are unknowingly a fan of her fashion.

The wife of Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden has two young children with her husband.

She is impressed when she sees parents at the school gates wearing her clothing designs.

"I get excited when I'm pulling up to school and I see a mom wearing my things and they don't even know that it's mine," she told Us Weekly. "That's really exciting for me."

Nicole has fashion and accessory lines Winter Kate and House of Harlow 1960.

She loves seeing the different ways in which buyers style her items but she is more focused on creating little pieces.

"Jewellery is close to my heart," she admitted.

The Fashion Star mentor admits that her designs will not suit everyone that wants to purchase.

At 5’1” she has a tiny frame and believes she will never look desirable in bottoms which rise above her belly button.

"You have to dress for you,” she recommended. “There are plenty of trends that do not look good on any of us.

"I'm 5'1" so the high-waisted jeans are not something that's ever going to look go on me."

Despite being successful in her career, Nicole is careful about the styles she purchases.

She refuses to hand over money at the shops just because something is on trend because it is usually a mistake.

"I personally tend to go with clothing I can wear season after season and get a lot of wear out of as opposed to something that's trendy that I have to throw out later on," she admitted. "I feel like it's a waste."
