Nina Dobrev wasn't intimated by working with Damon Wayans Jr. as she didn't know who he was.

The pair, along with Jake Johnson, are currently gracing cinema screens in Let's Be Cops, a buddy movie about two hapless friends who masquerade as police officers.

Nina is most recognised for her role in The Vampire Diaries, but wasn't fazed about appearing in big-budget comedy film.

"Well, for one, to be honest with you I wasn’t familiar with any of [Damon's] work or Jake’s before the movie. I later, when I got it and told people what I was doing, found out that they were a big deal in the comedy world," Nina revealed to heyuguys.com.

"But, I think that’s what helps not intimidate me, and I was able to just meet them – they’re like regular Joe Schmoes – and we had a great time, and we played around and I learned a lot from them. I feel like if I had known about their stuff from before I would have changed the way I acted around them, or the way I looked at them, but I just saw them as my buddies."

The fun-filled movie has left Nina with an appetite for more comedy roles. Her next movie The Final Girls fuses fun with a more thriller/action aspect.

The 25-year-old actress found the comedy aspect even easier to get her head around in the new feature.

"It was so much fun to do. Especially because, like I said I had Let’s Be Cops under my belt. So this time I was able to play more, and feel more comfortable, and take more risks and just create a character that was all my own," she smiled.

"And I just loved it because it is such an original concept, and I personally am sort of overseeing the same thing being done over and over again as an audience member."
