Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are not taking part in the forthcoming Full House revival.
The 28-year-old sisters shared the role of Michelle Tanner on the hit American sitcom, which aired from 1987 to 1995.
Netflix is filming an offshoot series of the beloved ABC show called Fuller House soon, but much to the dismay of many fans, the Olsen twins will not be joining the cast.
“Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of Fuller House, I know how much Full House has meant to them and they are still very much considered family," executive producer Robert L. Boyett noted in a statement released to The Hollywood Reporter. "It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavours. I appreciate their support and good wishes towards Fuller House."
The Olsen twins are now fashion designers, with the pair having launched labels The Row as well as Elizabeth and James within the past decade.
Mary-Kate and Ashley spoke with Women’s Wear Daily last month about Fuller House. But during the interview the siblings claimed they had no idea what was going on with the project.
“We just found out about it today,” Mary-Kate noted in the joint discussion.
Their former co-star John Stamos caught wind of the twins’ WWD interview and he called their declaration of ignorance about the show “bullsh*t” on Twitter before deleting his tweet.
Many of the original castmembers are returning for Fuller House, as Candace Cameron Bure (D.J.), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie), Dave Coulier (Joey Gladstone) and Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler) are all confirmed for the ensemble. John is producing the series and he’ll reprise his part as Uncle Jesse in a guest appearance. Bob Saget and Lori Loughlin are still in talks for Fuller House, which broadcasts via streaming service Netflix in 2016.
