Orlando Bloom: I'm no heartthrob

Orlando Bloom can't wait to shake off his "heartthrob" image.
The British actor is considered one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelors after wooing fans in The Lord of the Rings and the Pirates of the Caribbean franchises.
He takes on the part of a tattooed cop who is a heavy drinker in thriller Zulu and immediately jumped on the chance to switch up his career.
"Zulu was like a gift to me. To get a chance like that and not just be Orlando Bloom, the heartthrob," he admitted to stuttgarter-zeitung.de.
"I don't want to complain. It was amazing playing a lead role in two incredibly popular trilogies. I, as well as many others, made a lot of good money with those, so it's only logical that you'll be put into a certain category. But in the past five or six years I've really fought to escape that, even with myself."
It's been a time of change in the 37-year-old actor's personal life too, following his split from wife Miranda Kerr towards the end of last year. The pair remain close in order to care for their three-year-old son Flynn.
Orlando had to persuade himself that he still has it in him to be a huge star.
"Much of the pressure I felt following the success of The Lord of the Rings and Pirates of the Caribbean I put on myself," he confessed. "I had to prove to myself that I'm versatile. To some extent, it's a process you can't control. At some point you'll inevitably grow out of the roles for the Hollywood pretty boy. You get older and Hollywood throws itself at the next man of the moment. But you have to find where you now belong. For example in Zulu, playing the role of Brian Epkeen."
