Pierce Brosnan thinks of the fire that destroyed his home as "the sh*t hitting the proverbial fan".
In February a blaze ripped through the actor's Malibu home, destroying much of what was in its path.
Luckily no one was hurt, but an estimated $1 million of damage was caused.
"I had just done a week of meditation classes, so I was in this Zen zone of reflection when the sh*t hit the proverbial fan. There were paintings, first-edition books - James Joyce's Ulysses - the Aston Martin. I looked into the garage, and the car cover was engulfed in flames. In that nanosecond, you think, 'Do I try to save it?' But it's a car. You take the blow and move on, give thanks you're alive," Pierce mused to Details.
Renovations began pretty soon after the fire took place.
Pierce didn't take much time to brood over the incident though, as work has been non-stop for the actor. He has four projects currently in production, as well as his latest flick No Escape, which hits cinemas from today.
Over his 35 years in front of the camera, 62-year-old Pierce has worked with everyone from Robert Pattinson to Meryl Streep. He is best known for playing spy James Bond, but it was another movie hero that could have launched his Hollywood career.
"It was the beginning of these huge movies, and I just thought, Batman? Batman held such an indelible place in my own childhood, but I said something flippant to Tim Burton like, 'Any guy who wears his underpants outside his trousers cannot be taken seriously.' So, yeah [I turned it down]," he revealed.
Still on his to-do list is work alongside Robert De Niro, who Pierce is a huge admirer of.
