Rachel McAdams’ weirdest audition involved smooching some strangers.
The actress has made a name for herself in the rom-com realm, in part thanks to her appearance in cult classic The Notebook. She’s a dab hand at faking chemistry with co-stars, which came in handy during one embarrassing try out for a flick.
“The weirdest thing I’ve had to do was making out with strangers. It was weird just turning up and kissing someone. I guess it was to see if there was any chemistry there. But with the one I’m thinking of I got the part, so I must’ve done something right,” she laughed to British magazine Hello!
Some stars dislike being so linked to one genre, but that isn't something Rachel worries about. She wouldn’t necessarily choose to see romantic flicks at the cinema though.
“I never go into a movie wanting to cry. I try to avoid those films but I’m glad when I do see them because those movies stay with you forever and you have a cathartic experience. For me, they are the most meaningful,” she said.
That’s not to say Rachel isn’t a fan of expressing her emotions in real life. In fact having a romantic night in is one of her favourite things to do, although having a relationship can be hard in her industry. The star is currently rumoured to be dating her True Detective co-star Taylor Kitsch, although that’s not been confirmed.
“Laying on the couch watching a movie is awesome. That is ultimate romance to me. I don’t care what movie. It doesn’t really matter. It is just so romantic,” she swooned.
“You have to be quite adaptable in this business, whether you are in a relationship or not. Trying to establish roots somewhere is a bit of a joke. You need to trust each other and be able to talk to each other and be best friends.”
