Ray Liotta: I got ripped off

Ray Liotta was pickpocketed by “a douche” while preparing for Goodfellas.

The 60-year-old actor is best known for his role as Henry Hill in the hit Martin Scorsese crime film. The movie celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show, Ray recalled how he prepared for the role.

“They gave me a guy who used to be a cop, whose family was in the mob and he later went mob, and I remember one day we go to lunch, we go, we get there, we’re eating and he’s telling me things, sharing things, and my wallet’s not there and I think, ‘My gosh, what did I do with my wallet?’” he said. “And this is like in Queens, people all over the place, walking up and down, and all of a sudden boom, there’s my wallet. There’s no question he took it from me and then I guess after he threw it on the street and said, ‘Oh look, there it is’”

When Jimmy asked why he thought it happened, Ray replied, “He’s a douche!”

The cast of Goodfellas recently reunited, including Robert De Niro and Lorraine Bracco. However Joe Pesci, who played Tommy DeVito, was unable to make it.

“It was great seeing everybody. He sent a letter, and then Bob read it. And basically it said, ‘Sorry I can’t f**king be there but,” Ray said before swearing multiple times in quick succession to impersonate the star and his character. “He’s a funny guy.”

Ray has worked on movies of many genres during his career, but his latest work on Texas Rising sees him turn his hand to a Western.

“I don’t think you would normally think of me [in a Western],” he conceded. “I’m from New Jersey, but we did a lot of horseback riding [and] I wanted to do all my own stunts. It was great, it was a really good experience and the piece really came out.”
