Jason Reitman is set to direct I Would Only Rob Banks for My Family.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Juno filmmaker is taking on the project for Fox Searchlight.

I Would Only Rob Banks for My Family is based on an article written by Skip Hollandsworth, which was published this July in Texas Monthly. Skip chronicled the true life tale of the seemingly ordinary Catt clan, who successfully pulled off two heists. Structural engineer Scott Catt performed the two robberies with the help of his 20-year-old son and 18-year-old daughter, but the family, which resided in Houston, Texas at the time, were caught while trying to complete their third act of larceny.

Jason, who has helmed critically acclaimed films such as Young Adult, Labor Day and Men, Women & Children, is set to produce the picture with Helen Estabrook under his Right of Way banner. His father Ivan Reitman has also joined the production via the Montecito Picture Company and Ivan’s business associate Ali Bell is also producing. The father-son team last collaborated on Jason’s 2009 film Up in the Air, which earned the 37-year-old Canadian filmmaker six Academy Award nominations.

Montecito's Tom Pollock and Alex Plapinger are serving as executive producers on the project.

Nick Hornby will be writing the I Would Only Rob Banks for My Family script. He most recently adapted the screenplay for biographical drama Wild starring Reese Witherspoon, which chronicles the true story of one woman's 1,100-mile solo hike.
