Zak Williams says there isn't "a day that goes by" that he doesn't think about his late father Robin.
The Mrs. Doubtfire actor passed away on August 11 aged 63, after taking his life. Now four months on, Zak has opened up about how hard it has been to lose him.
"There's not a day that goes by that we don't think about our dad," the 31-year-old told People magazine, referring to his half-siblings Zelda, 25 and Cody, 23. "I miss him all the time. Often I see something or if I'm watching a film, I think, 'Oh, man, he would have appreciated this,' or, 'He would have gotten a laugh out of this.'"
Zak was born to the legendary comedian's first wife Valerie Velardi. Daughter Zelda and son Cody were from his second marriage to Marsha Garces.
As well as seeking comfort in his siblings, he has also found solace in following his father's lead and taking time to give back to people. While Robin would give up hours of his time to visit sick children in hospital, Zak volunteers at a local prison.
"It's through helping others that I've begun to heal," he confessed.
Robin's son wasn't the only person to talk about his legacy in the publication's new issue. Marlo Thomas, who worked with him for 18 years through St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, opened up his special bond with the young patients.
"One of them liked toy soldiers, so Robin sent him his own toy soldiers that he had saved all those years of his childhood," he said. "When he came there, it was like magic."
