(Cover) - EN Movies - Russell Crowe will reportedly star in and direct The Water Diviner.
The Academy Award-winning actor’s career is on high gear at the moment as his Superman blockbuster Man of Steel is making a killing in theatres internationally.
Deadline reports Russell is all set to make his feature film directorial debut with historical drama The Water Diviner.
Russell will play the leading man in the picture which is set in 1919. The Water Diviner follows an Australian father who travels all the way to Turkey in search of his two sons who were lost following the Battle of Gallipoli. The military campaign was staged between April 1915 and January 1916 by British and French forces. Allied troops unsuccessfully attempted to wrench Istanbul from the order of the Ottoman Empire in order to establish a sea route to Russia.
Troy Lum and Andrew Mason of Hopscotch Features and Keith Rodger of Fear Of God Films will lead production on The Water Diviner.
Russell portrays character Jor-El in Man of Steel, which has earned just under $215 million worldwide since its June 14 release.
He will next be seen in fantasy picture Winter’s Tale opposite Will Smith and Colin Farrell.
Russell has also secured the starring role in biblical epic Noah, which will reach theatres next year.
