(Cover) - EN Movies - Samuel L. Jackson has joked he wants to “break the mould” and star in a Woody Allen film.

The movie legend is known for his work on action films and thrillers such as Avengers Assemble and Pulp Fiction.

The 63-year-old claims he now wants to try his hand at one of Allen’s romantic comedies, just like Scarlett Johansson who starred in the director’s Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

“How many black people have you seen in a Woody Allen movie?” he asked Total Film.

“I’m thinking I can break the mould. I’ll tell Scarlett to speak to him...”

Jackson stars in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming drama Django Unchained, which tells the story of the American slave trade.

Tarantino has built up a “cool” reputation within the film industry, but Jackson knows from working with the director what he is really like.

“He’s not cool, not at all,” the actor emphasised.

“He makes cool films. That doesn’t make him a cool person. It just means he makes cool films...One thing has nothing to do with the other. Everybody expresses creativity in a different way.”

Tarantino’s legendary films are known for being thought-provoking, violent and often controversial.

With Inglourious Basterds he tackled the difficult subject of Nazi brutality during WWII and with his latest offering he takes on the issue of slavery.

Jackson hopes Django Unchained will encourage people to talk about that period of history.

“Art is supposed to stimulate and get people thinking, talking. It’s somebody’s expression of something. People will be incited by this film,” he said.

“Hopefully it will make people talk and stimulate them to learn something about the time and understand why that place got us to this place, and what’s different about it and what’s the same about it right now.”
