Sandra Bullock claims it’s a miracle she didn’t end up in jail during college because she did so many stupid things.
The 51-year-old actress leads a stable life these days, spending most of her time with her adopted son Louis and, if rumours are to be believed, her newly adopted daughter. But things were different when she was growing up, with the Oscar-winner hinting people would be shocked if they knew what she’d got up to.
“Well, I did some stupid things in college,” she told America's Glamour magazine. “Fact that I didn't wind up in jail: miracle. Miracle! So I'm grateful for that. But, you know, I don't feel like I was an adult till about five years ago."
It was around that time that Sandra’s professional life blew up, just as her personal life imploded. She won the 2010 best actress Oscar for her role in The Blind Side, but shortly afterwards she split from her husband Jesse James after he admitted being unfaithful multiple times. They had been in the process of adopting Louis, with Sandra finishing that alone.
Although she didn’t reference this, it seems that whole period profoundly affected how she now lives her life.
"I heard it all,” she said. “And I had to step back and go, 'I have the greatest gift in little Louis, and I'm gonna let him see the woman I want him to know.' So a child forces you to get your s**t together. In the best way.
"I literally went, 'I know who I am.' Not completely. But about two years ago all the puzzle pieces came together. I went, 'This is who I like. This is who I am.'"
She spoke of her fierce love for her little boy to Glamour, admitting he is one of the reasons she finds press intrusion so hard. While she understands there is an interest in her, she warns she will “go postal” if anyone attempts to approach her little boy.
On a lighter note, Sandra reminisced about her school days. She was a cheerleader and still has the uniform she used to wear – and it seems her boyfriend Bryan Randall could be in for something of a treat.
"Embarrassingly, yes (I still have it),” she laughed. "That might come in handy some sexy night.
“I don't know who I'm saving it for. I want to be buried in it.”
