Sarah Hyland 'splits from boyfriend'

Sarah Hyland has apparently split from her boyfriend of five years.

The 23-year-old was dating fellow actor Matt Prokop, 24, who she met while auditioning for 2008 movie High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

Now Us Weekly claims her rep has confirmed that the pair have decided to call it quits, but that there's no bad blood between the stars.

"Sarah's doing fine. It didn't work out," a source explained. "She's young. They decided they would be better off as friends."

Yesterday Sarah headed to the Emmys, where her show Modern Family won its fifth award for being an outstanding comedy series. Tongues were wagging when she turned up sans Matt, but luckily her amazing Christian Siriano outfit distracted from gossip.

Sarah and Matt started dating in 2009 and appeared in 2011 movie Geek Charming together. They were living together and looked after their joint pet dog Barkley Bixby.

The pair were just 19 when they moved into their own place. Sarah previously gushed about how much she loved being around her beau 24/7.

“Pros, it’s cheaper. Cons, we’re both really lazy. So, laundry and dishes, we complain about that," she joked to AOL TV.
Matt added: “I have someone who can always test my cooking. We’re like the couple on Whitney, we’re a sweatpants couple!”
