Susan Sarandon thinks “the world would be a better place” if people smoked weed instead of drinking alcohol.
The Thelma and Louise actress has regularly spoken about her love of marijuana. And during a chat with American magazine High Times, the 68-year-old opened up about her reasons for loving the leaf.
“It’s absurd that more states haven’t legalised it .?.?. You also see the reports on kids who have seizures that are prevented by medical marijuana,” she explained. “You see the relief it gives to vets .?.?. It’s also a lovely way to socialise and be with people.”
Susan spoke about getting stoned during a chat with Andy Cohen on his Watch What Happens Live show in 2013. While she admitted to being high at awards shows, during her latest interview she also added that it helps her with her work.
“I’ve never worked high, and I’ve never filmed high. But I’ve read scripts high and gotten a different perspective .?.?.” she said. “That’s the great thing about smoking weed: If you lead a very, very busy life, for me, it really makes the most of your weekend .?.?. It allows you to slow down and really be there.”
In 2010, the star confessed that she has always spoken openly about drugs with her three children.
“I love [magic] mushrooms and I've done those successfully, but I don't like anything chemical. I didn't like LSD, and Ecstasy wouldn't agree with me,” she told British newspaper The Observer. “I like stuff you can smoke. Everyone is wired differently. Some people can do stuff that others can't. That's what I told my kids. Some drugs can kill you. Some are not even worth trying. Some are a lot of fun, so talk to me first.”
