Liev Shcreiber and his wife have been hit with a $30k lawsuit, according to reports.

The 47-year-old spent Sunday evening celebrating with his spouse at the Oscars when her film Birdman won the Best Picture category. But on Monday the couple were reportedly hit with a lawsuit by a building contractor who had been working on their apartment in the Tribeca area of New York.

According to the New York Daily News, Brooklyn businessman John Kemp says the acting couple have owed him $24,861 since June 2013. At this point he ceased his work with them, and claims they have owed another $5,000 since early 2014.

However, the legal documents did accept that Liev and Naomi had paid $230,000 for other work on their apartment beginning in 2012.

The Ray Donovan star wanted his family’s duplex ground floor turned into a garage and the second level of commercial loft space converted into a comfortable living space for the couple and their two sons, Sammy and Sascha.

But in the papers that were filed at Manhattan Supreme Court, when 46-year-old Naomi appealed to the contractor over the phone to return to work, and promised “imminent payment”, he relented and resumed the job.

John added that he did another $5,000 worth of work but then was never paid for that or the earlier work.

He filed a lien against the couple and their trust, which is the legal owner of the co-op unit, last year.

However, John Courtney, a lawyer for the couple, said he was unaware of the litigation and declined to comment.
