Comedian Seth Meyers and his wife Alexi Ashe are soon to become parents, his representative confirms.

The 41-year-old talk show host, who currently presents his TV programme Late Night with Seth Meyers and previously served as head writer for Saturday Night Live (SNL), tied the knot with human rights lawyer Alexi in September, 2013 after dating for five years.

They are now celebrating another milestone, as Seth's spokesperson confirmed to Us Weekly magazine they are going to have a baby, their first child together.

The couple attended the American Museum of Natural History's annual black-tie benefit gala in New York City on Thursday (19Nov15) and at the event, they were able to share the wonderful news of Alexi's expectancy with friends and colleagues.

"Both Seth and Alexi were beaming at last night's Natural History Museum Gala (in NYC)," a source told Us Weekly. "They are so thrilled to become parents and were so happy to share the exciting news with friends and cast members from SNL last night."

Although Alexi's due date has not yet been revealed, onlookers at this week's fundraising event believe she may be past her first trimester.

"She wasn't huge, but she looks more than three months pregnant," an insider told Page Six. "She really did look it."

Seth rarely talks about his marriage, but he did share a sincere anecdote about their nuptials during a Couture Council luncheon in New York City last year (14).

The comic revealed his admiration for her ability to stay optimistic before their wedding day, even though she came down with food poisoning on the eve of their nuptials.

"In a testament to my wife's will and my wife's strength, she got herself pumped full of fluids, and she rallied and made it to the ceremony," he shared. "When she walked out in her Herrera wedding dress, she looked more beautiful than I had ever seen her look."
