Actor Shia LaBeouf is facing a charge of misdemeanour public intoxication following an arrest in Austin, Texas on Friday (09Oct15).
The Transformers star was reportedly in the city for the Austin City Limits music festival when he and a female friend attempted to gain entry into a local bar.
Sources tell TMZ.com they were stopped at the door because they appeared to be drunk, prompting LaBeouf to shout and curse at the bouncers. He then allegedly tried to push his way past security, but was blocked before deciding to leave.
Eyewitnesses claim he began running down the street and illegally crossed a road directly in front of police officers, who issued the actor a warning. When he reportedly failed to stop jaywalking, he was placed in handcuffs and taken in to Travis County Jail for booking and later released on his own recognisance.
"Due to pending adjudication, no further details will be released at this time," the Austin Police Department said in a statement, according to CNN.
Representatives for LaBeouf have yet to comment on the news.
It's not the first time the 29-year-old has been arrested - he was busted for disorderly conduct last year (14) after disrupting a Broadway performance of Cabaret and tussling with police outside the theatre. As part of his punishment, he was ordered to enrol in an alcohol treatment programme, which he completed earlier this year (15).
In a recent interview with Access Hollywood, LaBeouf said working on the movie Man Down with Dito Montiel had also helped him get in the right frame of mind.
“He came to my house when I was in a really low place and offered it to me like therapy, like ‘here’s a healing process so we can jump into together and get well,’” he said.
