Somerhalder and Reed: We never argue!

Nikki Reed loves her engagement ring “more than anything in the world”.

Ian Somerhalder, 36, proposed to his 26-year-old girlfriend back in January after a whirlwind romance.

And it seems The Vampire Diaries ticked all the right boxes with the flower-shaped diamond sparkler he chose for his new fiancée.

"I love it more than anything in the world!" she said.

Nikki and Ian put on an affectionate display as they attended the Noble Awards in Beverly Hills on Friday night.

And opening up about their relationship, the couple, who were friends for years before venturing into a romance, insisted they are so happy that they don’t even argue.

Asked by reporters at the event what they fight about, Ian replied: “Nothing really! I know it sounds stupid."

However, Nikki joked that there is one aspect of their relationship that does cause a point of contention.

"He thinks his eyes are ocean blue and I think they're aqua," she said.

Both Nikki and Ian were honoured with awards at the ceremony on Friday night for their charity work. And it is this shared passion that makes their relationship even stronger.

"We do wake up in the morning and talk about those things," Nikki said, adding that making the world a better place is usually the first topic of conversation of a morning. "That's the revelation that I've had in the last couple of years is understanding my role in this, and that one individual can actually do something, can change the world."

"I think it all stems around the idea that everything is connected. And so what's actually I think nurtured this long friendship that we've had is that we are passionate about similar things."
