Somerhalder ‘still single’

Ian Somerhalder is still single, despite reports to the contrary.

It has been claimed The Vampire Diaries actor was dating former American Idol contestant Molly Swenson last week.

But the wannabe singer took to her Twitter page to shoot down the rumours.

“I've been off the market for 2 yrs! <3 you @randizzie," she tweeted, tagging her boyfriend Randal Hark.

E! News previously reported that Molly and the 35-year-old were “clearly a little infatuated with each-other” at a recent event in California. But it seems Ian is still enjoying his bachelor lifestyle after breaking up with his co-star Nina Dobrev early last year.

The former couple dated for more than three years before parting ways but continue to work together on their TV show. At this year’s People’s Choice Awards, the couple set tongues wagging when they shared a kiss while on stage accepting the Best Chemistry gong, and Nina revealed it was planned to show people that there was no ill will between them.

“It's just honest. All it was was just honest. You call a spade a spade,” she explained to E! News at the time. “I was trying to figure out, like what do you say in that situation?

“We were like, well, we're cool, we're friends and co-stars. He's a great person, I'm a great person… I mean, I think I'm pretty awesome. So it doesn't need to be awkward and I think everyone expected it to be so awkward. We made fun of ourselves and just had fun."
