Quentin Tarantino is “not really interested” in taking on standard sci-fi.

The world-famous director has helmed movies such as Kill Bill, Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction.

And as he ponders what his next project will be, Quentin certainly doesn’t intend to do anything in a traditional way.

“I’m not really interested in doing a sci-fi film, but there’s one thing in particular that I would be interested in,” he told New York magazine. “I can’t tell you what it is, though, because I would literally be telling you exactly what it is.

“And then I wouldn’t be able to do it, because everyone would talk about it, because it is one thing in particular. It might be science-fiction, but it wouldn’t involve spaceships.”

Quentin has never made a secret of his dislike of UFOs in sci-fi films. Instead, the helmer thinks he has a new story that would be a perfect addition to the genre.

“If you had asked me a few years ago [about my interest in doing sci-fi film] I would have said: ‘Nah, not really, I don’t know,’” Quentin said during an interview at Comic-Con back in 2014. “But I have a little idea right now. It’s a little flower, you know, like a bean sprout, but those tend to grow into stalks. So this is the first time I’ll be able to say ‘maybe.’ It won’t be a spaceship sci-fi, it’ll be Earthbound.”

Quentin’s next project is The Hateful Eight – a western with Jennifer Jason Leigh in the lead role of Daisy.

However, the director admits he also had another potential actress in mind for the part.

"I could have seen Jennifer Lawrence doing a good job with the role," he told Vulture magazine earlier this month. "I'm a very big fan of hers. I think she could end up being another little Bette Davis if she keeps on going the way she's going."
