Taron Egerton "dared to dream" when he read through the script for Kingsman: The Secret Service.

The fun spy adventure tells the story of Colin Firth's suave secret agent character Harry Hart taking young upstart Gary 'Eggsy' Unwin (Taron) under his wing and turning him into a fully fledged sleuth.

With only three acting credits to his name, the opportunity was a massive one for Taron, who had to go through a lengthy casting process.

"I had a meeting with Matthew [Vaughn, director and writer] and it seemed to go well, though it was very intimidating - camera, make-up, the lot! I came back and the intensity went up - big stage, lights, costume. Then Matthew invited me to his house. I got to read through the whole script, daring to dream," Taron confided to Total Film magazine.

"One Saturday morning I got the call: 'We'd like to offer you the role!'"

The slick flick boasts an all-star cast, including Colin, Sir Michael Caine and Samuel L. Jackson.

Meeting Samuel was particularly daunting for 25-year-old Taron, who is a big fan of the star's work. But he had nothing to worry about, as the Pulp Fiction actor turned out to be just as cool off screen.

"I knew Mr. Jackson's arrival was imminent. I turned around, and sat in front of a monitor was the man himself. Maybe it's because it's someone from across the pond, but he's such an icon. But he was very down to earth," Taron smiled.
