(Cover) - EN Movies - Tom Hiddleston has "no idea" what the new Avengers film is about.

The British actor played villain Loki in the first instalment of the blockbuster franchise, with the character previously featuring in 2011 movie Thor.

The Avengers 2 cast is yet to be decided and Tom still has no idea whether he will be returning to writer-and-director Joss Whedon's popular series.

"I had a conversation with [Joss] but that was because he was in town passing through on the way to do press for his Much Ado About Nothing and I just wanted to tell him how excited I was to see that film," he explained to BBC Newsbeat.

"He said he's writing [The Avengers 2] and stuff. I honestly have no idea what happens in it. I'm not holding something back, I have no idea what happens!"

The rumoured cast of the second movie includes Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow.

Joss' last Avengers film went down well with audiences worldwide and Tom says it's important he's given time to make the next instalment just as successful.

"They haven't told me my schedule. I don't think they have told anyone their schedule. Everyone at Marvel has just given Joss some space and time to write it because he wrote such an extraordinary film the first time around and I think everyone just wants to give him the breathing space to write just as good a film the second time around," he smiled.

The Avengers 2 is set to hit screens in 2015.
