Actor Tom Hiddleston has no interest in slamming people he’s never met, preferring to air his views in person.

The Thor star is aware that his movies aren’t liked by everyone, but he tries not to get drawn into any negativity. While he believes it’s natural for there to be disagreements over things like film, he suggests the proper way to deal with that is to approach it head on rather than hiding behind something like the internet.

“There’s more than enough negativity in the world and I don’t feel like I need to contribute to that,” he told Shortlist magazine. “I should add that I believe in accountability. If you’ve got something to say, then you should say that in person to somebody, as opposed to hiding behind anonymity, just throwing it over the wall like a paper aeroplane.”

Tom insists he’s not aware of any bitterness surrounding him and his work, although that’s not to say it’s not out there. His main concern is that he’s not “divisive”, because he hates when his work is viewed in that way by others.

“That’s not the business I’m in,” he said. “I’m not saying I’m some kind of unifying force – I just like being a part of it.”

The 34-year-old actor is probably best known for portraying Loki in the Thor and Avengers movies, a role he is very proud of. Although he hasn’t been in character for three years he is still constantly asked about the Marvel man, which he believes is testament to how well the superhero realm is doing.

“When you meet children and they have that really authentic response, that’s really cool,” he added. “They are so generally enthusiastic and you realise they love these characters unashamedly. The enthusiasm is so genuine and so infectious. I am continuously amazed at how people like Loki.”
