Tommy Lee Jones worries about the lack of “security” his job provides.
The actor has starred in a host of iconic movies, including Lincoln which has been a huge hit this awards season, with Tommy featuring in the best supporting actor category at the Academy Awards.
Despite continuing to bag roles in prominent films, the star knows his luck could run out at any time.
“I don’t have any reprieve from worry,” he admitted to Total Film.
“Every actor has that moment when he realises he’ll never work again. Every actor has that. There’s no security in this job... I’m just hoping I’ll have a job tomorrow. That’s what most of my hopes are dedicated to – the next movie.”
The 66-year-old worked alongside Hollywood heavyweights Daniel Day-Lewis and Steven Spielberg while filming Lincoln.
The Oscar nominated drama was a rewarding experience for Tommy, who was extremely grateful to have temporary relief from his fear of unemployment.
“I’m always happy to have a job. I’m always looking for work,” he continued.
“And [Steven Spielberg’s] very good! He’s a good shooter. He knows his way around a movie set. We’ve known each other for quite some time. I knew what to expect. There’s nothing surprising. He’s just damn good.”
Lincoln stands nominated for an impressive 12 Oscars, with Daniel in the running for the best actor award at the ceremony on February 24.
