With Christmas just around the corner, a new poll revealed today shows that this year Brits are turning their back on festive film favourites such as It’s a Wonderful Life, instead choosing to channel their inner child, selecting The Snowman as their top festive film.

The seasonal survey by Gallo Film Club, the home of great wine and great film, unveiled that after a busy year 85% of UK adults chose a kid’s film as their favourite, as they felt it enabled them to forget work and home stresses and really get into the Christmas spirit.

The poll, which questioned over 1,500 films fans, saw the 2004 computer-animated fantasy film Polar Express and the 1990 kid’s classic Home Alone closely following ‘The Snowman, beating British rom-com Love Actually and black and white classic It’s a Wonderful Life.

‘The Snowman’s’ popularity shows no sign of slipping, celebrating it’s 30th anniversary this year will reveal a new 23-minute version titled ‘The Snowman and the Snowdog’ onChristmas Eve, featuring a new little boy who’s son to the original boy now an adult, flying over international landmarks set to enthrall yet another generation of adults.

The top ten films include:

4. Elf (12 per cent)
5. Muppets Christmas Carol (9 per cent)
6. Miracle on 34th Street (8 per cent)
7. Arthur Christmas (7 per cent)

9. It’s A Wonderful Life (3 per cent)
10. Scrooged (1 per cent)
