Ty Burrell doesn’t mind being typecast after spending most of his acting career unemployed.

The 47-year-old star earned two Emmy Awards for portraying character Phil Dunphy in TV comedy, Modern Family.

Despite having worked on the show since 2009, Ty insists he would be happy to consider similar roles should they arise in the future.

“It’s hard to worry too much about that when you’ve spent the bulk of your career unemployed,” he told Variety. “I’ve had a stable job that I’ve loved for six years. I will take that in exchange for being typecast any day of the week.”

Ty has appeared in pretty dynamic movie projects this year, including Muppets Most Wanted and drama The Skeleton Twins.

Independent drama The Skeleton Twins, which also stars Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader and Luke Wilson, was a hit at Sundance Film Festival in January. And Ty is elated the feature went over so well because it demonstrates the vast range some comedic actors possess.

“I’m a fan of the Duplass Brothers, who were producing, so I accepted; I guess they saw my inner repression,” he joked. “Actually, I loved the script, and I loved that Bill and Kristen were doing something so different. It’s not something I’ve played before, either.”

Unfortunately Ty didn’t spend too much time with The Muppets while filming Muppets Most Wanted.

But he thoroughly enjoyed being involved with the family feature nonetheless.

“I didn’t really get to work a lot with Kermit, so I’m going to go with Bill Hader on this one,” he said, in response to a question on who’s a better co-star. “But it’s really hard to beat any of the Muppets. My primary co-star in Muppets Most Wanted was Sam the Eagle, who is a great scene partner, very dry and very funny.”
