Valerie Harper suffers health emergency

Valerie Harper entered the emergency room for observation Wednesday night.

The 75-year-old actress has been suffering from brain cancer for the past two years, but she is well enough to star in theatre production Nice Work If You Can Get It, which is currently showing at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine.

Valerie was rushed by ambulance to York General Hospital in York, Maine, just a few miles south of where her theatre production is located, after claiming she felt sick.

“Valerie Harper was taken to a local hospital as a precaution before her July 29 evening performance of Nice Work If You Can Get It, at the Ogunquit Playhouse, after reporting that she was not feeling well,” Bradford T. Kenney, Executive Artistic Director, confirmed to Deadline. “The audiences and all of us here at the Playhouse are greatly enjoying our time with Valerie here in Ogunquit, and we are encouraged that she is feeling better.”

The medical facility confirmed in a statement she was discharged from hospital Thursday morning.

Valerie is an American icon after starring in The Mary Tyler Moore Show as legendary character Rhoda during the 1970s.

Although the cast and crew of her current production Nice Work If You Can Get It hopes she’ll return to the show later this week, sources claim this timeline is unlikely.

"It doesn't look good,” the insider told ET Online.

Valerie received a brain cancer diagnosis in 2013, four years after she beat lung cancer in 2009.
