Victoria Beckham has reportedly been trying to set Katie Holmes up with some of her husband's "eligible mates".

The 35-year-old actress hasn't been in a long-term relationship since divorcing Tom Cruise, who she was married to for almost six years, in 2012.

Through her fashion ventures, she and designer Victoria struck up a close friendship and it's thought the British star is keen to play matchmaker, eyeing up close pals of her sportsman spouse David.

"Victoria and Katie grew apart, but they've recently got back in touch and have been chatting on the phone and over email," a source told British magazine Closer. "Victoria feels Katie could do with some fun, and she's been talking about trying to set her up on a date with some of David's eligible mates."

Victoria lived in Los Angeles for a brief period while David played in a soccer team over there, allowing her to spend more time with Katie. Now the designer is back in London, UK, it's thought she's keen for her friend to visit with eight-year-old daughter Suri. Victoria is a mother to sons Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz and daughter Harper.

"Victoria has asked Katie and her daughter Suri to come and stay. They've said they'll sort something soon," the insider added.

While her clothing line is growing in success after she opened her flagship London store earlier this year, Victoria is still said to be feeling a little discontent. It doesn't help that her sister Louise Flood is reportedly spending more time with David's sister Joanne while the fashionista is busy at work.

"Louise is spending an increasing amount of time with Joanne, and Victoria is beginning to feel a bit left out. She and Louise can go ages without seeing each other, which isn't surprising given her manic schedule. Their relationship can be difficult at times too, which doesn't help matters," a source explained.
