Will Poulter is set to star in the It remake, it has been claimed.

The 22-year-old British actor, perhaps most famous for his role in We’re The Millers alongside Jennifer Aniston and Emma Roberts, is said to be in final negotiations to take on the role of Pennywise in the reboot of the Stephen King tale.

The story revolves around an evil clown (Pennywise) who lured children while disguised as a kids’ entertainer.

It was originally adapted into a television miniseries back in 1991, with Tim Curry taking on the role of the terrifying lead.

Now, due to the length of the original King novel, True Detective director Cary Fukunaga is developing the story into two feature-length movies.

He has also spoken previously about wanting to stay as true to King’s tale as possible.

And after months of searching for the perfect lead for the upcoming reboot, Cary has apparently found his ideal contender.

According to Variety, Cary was wowed by Will’s audition and feels he is the right actor to take on the role of Pennywise in both films.

The first movie will centre on a group of outcast children who take on the mission of saving their town from the villainous clown. The second will see them as adults, with Will playing It in both films.

Will first made a name for himself as a child actor in the touching Son of Rambow. He has since enjoyed a steady rise in fame and can next be seen starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant.

It was his role in this film, in which he plays a robber who leaves Leonardo’s character for dead, that allegedly convinced bosses that he was more than capable of taking on the part of Pennywise.
